![]() ![]() You wouldn’t probably get that freedom in soap operas. ![]() During the shoot in Trivandrum, I interacted with a priest to learn more about the importance and process of the holy communion and other religious aspects. For instance, in Molly Aunty Rocks (MAR), I played the role of a priest. However, when it comes to films, you have the freedom to go deep into a character and be involved in it. Seventy five per cent of the television industry is about business and only the rest focuses on artistic value. While the former is my bread and butter, the latter is my passion. Which avenue defines you as a better actor - TV or films? I believe television and films are two different arenas. ![]() But I feel it’s just not about my character in the serial I belong to the Brahmin community and religiously follow every ritual. In fact, during a few temple visits, I have been asked to give the devotees prasadam (temple offerings) and light the lamp. Even after years, a lot of viewers, especially elderly people, address me as ‘Krishna’. Have people ever called you by that name? There was much hype about my character during the heydays of the serial Sree Mahabhagavatham. You are known as Malayali’s Lord Krishna. Mega serials like Manassu, Alavuddinte Adbuthavilakku, Harichandanam and the on-going Amma have put him on every miniscreen director’s A-list, and made him every viewer’s favourite. He debuted in the film industry with Shaji N Karun's Swaham, and later bagged prominent characters in movies like Pathram, Madhuranombarakaatu, Swapaanam and Molly Aunty Rocks. Television and film actor Sarath Das has also proved his mettle in the capacity of an anchor, singer and dubbing artist. He is better known among Malayalis as 'Krishna' ever since he donned the role of Lord Krishna in the Malayalam devotional soap Sree Mahabhagavatham. ![]()
